Welcome to our Week 3 Pace to the Race article where we highlight the top games that are projecting to play at a high pace this week. Pace is very important for daily fantasy spots as targeting high pace games is the recipe for fantasy production, especially if the game does turn into a shootout. Lets dive in!
LA Chargers @ MIN Vikings- Game Total 54.5
Two weeks into the season and the Chargers are playing at one of the fastest pace in the league as OC Kellen Moore has had a pass happy approach so far. Last week, may be a small outlier as they played against one of the top run defenses in the league but I am still expecting Herbert to have at least 40+ pass attempts this week. What makes the Chargers side even more interesting is they are going up against a very vulnerable Vikings defense.
Speaking of the Vikings they are also playing at a fast-pace as well and their running game has been terrible so far this year. I once again expect Cousins to throw the ball 40+ times. Last week, Minnesota was the fourth-fastest offense of the week and they were in the fastest paced game as well. That game in particular had a combined 131 plays! I am expecting a very similar game this week as we have this game projecting for 138 plays in our early runs. More plays equals more opportunities for fantasy points.
HOU Texans @ JAX Jaguars- Game Total 44.5
Houston is actually playing at a very fast pace so far this year. Coming in I thought we were going to see the Texans staff take it easy with C.J Stroud and focus more on the running game but they are letting him rip it!! The Texans are ranked fifth in pass rate so far this year and with a tight WR core this is making the Texans actually one of the best value stacks this week. We are projecting for them to be playing from behind this week so Stroud+ Collins stack are very much in play!
The Jaguars started off the season pretty slow as the Chiefs held them to under 10 points last week. Now they get to face a fast paced Texans team that cannot stop anyone as of late. Look for the Jaguars to play at a fast pace this week and have a lot of big plays. We have this game projected for 131 plays, and this is also a fantasy gold mine for cheap prices.
