General Strategy

Our PGA model is an easy to use model where we rank each golfer with an overall “Sharks Rating.” We use a number of metrics to get this overall rating. Some of the metrics  that are heavy weighted in our model are Ball Striking, Birdies Made, Approach, Fairways Gained and Putting Variance. We also use betting market odds as well that will give you an edge on who has the highest probability of making the cut and also placing in the top 20.

How We Recommend Using Our Model

In fantasy golf, your ultimate goal is to make it to Saturday with as many golfers still playing as possible. This is called a cut line, which is normally at 36 holes and after Day 2 if it is a 4 day golf event.  The top 65 players plus those tied at the end of that group make it to day 3. This is huge for fantasy purposes because you have more upside to your lineup when you have 6 golfers still playing on day 3 compared to 4 or 5. In our model we recommend to target golfers with at least a 55 % chance of making the cut. Outside of that metric, we suggest targeting guys with high “Shark Ratings” and a high probability of coming in the Top 20 as well. By building this way this gives your lineup the upside you need to take down a contest. As always we will post a lineup template as well to give you who we think the best golfers are for that contest. Using our model to fill in the remaining golfers is recommended.

Overall keep in mind that Golf is a 4 day event.  Getting to day 3 with as many golfers still playing is the goal! On Sunday morning lets sit back and watch our lineups climb the leaderboards!
